Parents as Partners

Parents as Partners

At Jigsaw Nursery, we believe that parents are our key partners in children’s learning. As part of our commitment to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we value the vital role parents play in a child’s development. We understand that a welcoming atmosphere and open communication between parents and the nursery are essential for nurturing each child’s growth. With our open-door policy, the nursery manager is always available to address any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.

We use a variety of communication methods to keep parents informed and engaged with daily nursery life. These include emails, newsletters, notice boards, and social media updates. Our Tapestry application offers parents a direct connection with their child’s class teacher, providing regular updates through notes and pictures. Throughout the year, we hold Parent-Teacher Meetings, offering dedicated time for parents to discuss their child’s progress, strengths, areas of development, and next steps for learning.

To further strengthen our partnership with families, we host parent events throughout the year. These carefully planned events, such as Painting Day, Messy Day, and Sports Day, allow parents to spend quality time with their children in the nursery environment. We also organize termly coffee mornings, offering a chance for parents to meet each other and connect, often leading to playdate arrangements!

Our field trips are an exciting part of our programme, carefully linked to classroom learning. These educational trips are scheduled in advance, with prior notice given to parents, and we always welcome parent volunteers to join us for these outings.

We are committed to building a strong, supportive community where both children and parents feel valued, heard, and part of the Jigsaw family.
